henry found himself in a long corridor.

there were no doors in the walls, and no signs or decorations on them.

it was lit well enough to see, but not brightly.

he walked down to the end of the corridor.

it branched one way - left.

henry turned left into another bare corridor with no doors.

the end of this corridor branched right.

henry, who got disoriented easily, started to feel dizzy

but at the end of this third corridor was a large room with no door.

the room was broightly lit, and filled with rows of chairs like a bus station or airline waiting section or a department of licensing and identification.

the seats all faced in the same direction, so no two people sat face to face.

twenty-three people were scattered around a total of sixty-eight seats.

some wore purple sashes.

others had black mustaches.

most of the persons with purple sashes just stared into space.

many of those with black mustaches were talking, apparently to themselves.

a stout woman with a clipboard and a thin man with a small phone walked up and down the rows of seats.

neither of them seemed to pay any attention to henry .

with some trepidation, henry sat down beside one of the men with a black mustache who was talking, probably to himself.

do they feed us? henry asked the man, who, besides his black mustache, also sported a red bow tie with white spots.

i hope so.

can i get a glass of water?

i don’t know. ask one of them.

henry firmly determined to ask the woman with the clipboard or the man with the phone for a glass of water when they passed him.

which they surely must do eventually,

he noticed some writing scrawled on the back of the empty seat in front of him.

it read - bouncing boys inherit zero expectation of flowers inherently,
